Anniversary-seminar 02./03. Okt. 2010
In 2010 the Karate Club Liesing is celebrating it's 10th anniversary.
For this reason there is a seminar with Shihan Toshihiro Oshiro taking place in Vienna from 2nd - 3rd of October 2010. Shihan Oshiro (born 1949 in Okinawa) is holder of the 9th dan in Shima Ha Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do and 8th dan in Yamanni Chinen-Ryu Bojutsu.
At this seminar both, Karate and Kobudo (Bo) will be taught.
It is a unique opportunity to get to know the art of kobudo. As it is impossible to seperate it from karate, every karate master in the early past was also trained in a weapon! Kobudo trains the precision of movement and coordination; it teaches the human body to move fluently and smoothly. Wrong or inaccurate stances are noticed immediately, because the fight turns into a fight against the weapon (and oneself), instead of the weapon supporting the fight (against an opponent).
Out of the Shorin-Ryu Kata, the Shotokan Kata have developed, that's why they are very similar. As a Bo, a wooden cane, as you can purchase in every building supplies store, is sufficient. (length 180cm, diameter 25-28mm).
The Karate Club Liesing is keeping alive the tradition of the connection of karate and kobudo and it is recommended every karateka to experience this fascinating art and discover its effectiveness for oneself.
Of course all explanations by Shihan Oshiro will be translated simultaneous from English to German by one of our sensei.
